No, it says "The main purpose of this update is to allow Cygwin to run correctly on Windows 2008 Server". It does not say "Without this update you won't even be able to install Cygwin on Windows 2008 Server." Anyway, I installed Windows 2008 Server about one week ago and at this time I had not read about a major issue preventing installation. I didn't report that because I was not sure if I missed a thread about this topic. Therefor I'm simply asking: was it known here before yesterday that one cannot install Cygwin on Windows 2008? I'm just curious.
