That message is not from cygwin bash. My guess is that you have a third-party bash already in your PATH that is getting confused by cygwin. But had you followed these directions: > Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html and included 'cygcheck -svr' output as a text attachment, we'd know for sure.
