Why are you linking against -lwsock32? That generally doesn't work (you shouldn't mix Windows sockets and cygwin sockets, and cygwin sockets are more likely to be portable to applications coded for Linux). In which case, are you sure it is an error, or is it merely configure's way of determining the signature by first trying something that fails to compile when given the correct POSIX signature but succeeds when given the older 1.5.24 definition?
