Perhaps there are new problems. I send only for the sake of completeness. Usually I update Cygwin dawnloading the packages with the scripts 'getcurr.sh' and 'clean_setup.pl' (both in the tar ball). Now with the snapshot 20061023 14:06:13, Cygwin gives the following warning:
---------------------------------------------------------------------- $ ./getcurr.sh .... ... Bunzipping2 setup.bz2 and adding .ini to it......done cygwin warning: MS-DOS style path detected: C:/cygwin/home/Angelo/Downloads/cygwin Preferred POSIX equivalent is: /home/Angelo/Downloads/cygwin CYGWIN environment variable option "nodosfilewarning" turns off this warning. Consult the user's guide for more details about POSIX paths: http://cygwin.com/cygwin-ug-net/using.html#using-pathnames Base Directory: /home/Angelo/Downloads/cygwin Writing list of missing files to missing.lst ... --------------------------------------------------------------- where does it take 'C:/cygwin/home/Angelo/Downloads/cygwin' from ? I never use 'MS-DOS style path' ! and those scripts do not contain any 'MS-DOS style path' ! Cheers, Angelo.
