Aloha, I don't shut my machine down every day, so cruft tends to accumulate over time. Today, as I make a remote ssh connection from an xterm I get an empty DOS box window on the screen for the duration of the connection. If I close that window the ssh connection is shut down.
In the past I've restarted Cygwin to clean this up. Is there a way to quell this behavior by less extreme measures?
