I need a program that can talk to a serial port on the local computer, the way Hyperterm does for Microsoft Windows.
I would like this program to present its user interface in an xterm. If that is not possible, perhaps a program that is itself an X11 client would do. I was able to compile "minicom" under cygwin. However, when minicom launches, it tries to access /dev/ttyS1, which is not provided by cygwin. Would someone suggest a program that is suitable, or a program that might be portable to cygwin. I am willing to do a bit of work on this.
