Sure, that's true. But it was Bobby McNulty that was complaining about multiple copies and he was suggesting that the multiple copies were going to the list. That's not true and I can't explain why Bobby would be seeing what he's seeing but the conclusion he drew from it is wrong. Joshua made no such complaint. As for how I reply, I always do it the same way. Reply to all makes sure it goes to the list and not just the original OP. If the OP doesn't want a copy directed to him/her as well, some procmail filter or setting the reply-to to point to the list will take care of that.
