FWIW; If windows knows about your CDR, it should be visible in cygwin too - to some extent at least. I think this will get you started; $ cdrecord -scanbus It should show a list of all(?) IDE/SCSI drives... The cdrecord doc/readme/howto (whichever it was) should give some hints. Might be that reading the cygwin FAQ WRT device handling will help some.
