No.  1.5.3 presumably refers to version 1.5.3 of the Cygwin package 
(although you should review the entire thread to see if that's what the
original poster was referring to).  If you have the latest version, then
you have 1.5.9.  If you're seeing a similar/related problem, then you'll
want to investigate it a little.  I'd recommend starting with a snapshot 
to see if some recent change addresses the issue.  See

<http://cygwin.com/problems.html>
