Please see > Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html for the guidelines on reporting problems with Cygwin (especially the part about attaching to your message, as an uncompressed text *attachment*, the output of "cygcheck -svr"). Without the cygcheck output, I can take a couple of guesses about what happened: either you didn't install the vim and emacs packages, or you did, but are trying to invoke "vi/emacs" from a DOS (cmd.exe) window. If the former, run setup.exe again and look in the Editors category. If the latter, make sure "c:\cygwin\bin" is in your Windows PATH. Also, "vi" in Cygwin is a symbolic link to an executable named "vim.exe", so you'll have to invoke it as "vim".
