Because you are generating the newer 'id_rsa/id_rsa.pub' key-pair instead of the older 'identity/identity.pub' key-pair, you need to copy your 'id_rsa.pub' file to the newer '.ssh/authorized_keys2' file, instead of the older '.ssh/authorized_keys'.
