It works now?? It was four weeks ago when I discovered this problem. Today I installed the latest cygwin so that I could investigate the problem in depth. Now everything works fine? Don't know why and I not going to worry about it. FWIW I'm running 1.5.5 now and I was having problems with 1.3.22. Also, related to another thread, the installation of 1.5.5 hung at 99% complete on one of the XFree86 sh scripts. I killed and sh in the task manager and completed the install. Everything seems to work.
