This works for drives and for directories. Is does anybody know how to make it work for files as well? I want to make it open up a bash shell in the directory where the file resides. That would be easier that going up one directory and then selecting the directory where I was.

See if my attempt works. It doesn't require any changes to .bash_profile or .bashrc. It assumes you have installed Cygwin in c:\cygwin, so you may need to change that. I think you need administrator access to the registry to install it.
