Hannu, Nope, you don't need to do anything fancy to test postinstall scripts. Remember: *any* file in /etc/postinstall that ends with .sh or .bat is a postinstall script as far as setup is concerned. You can use the method described in <http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2003-10/msg00025.html> for testing postinstall scripts without changing your installation or setup.ini. Just don't forget to rename the script from .sh.done back to .sh if you plan to run it again. FWIW, if you're able to reproduce the hang, I'd be very interested in seeing the results of the experiments outlined in the above message on your machine... Maybe you could glean something from the strace output as well.
