Actually, this has been rehashed to death on this list IMO. I'm not
sure opening up another discussion on this is worthwhile (though I
respect your right to voice an opinion). However, *before* another
discussion does ensue, I'd suggest anyone interested in chiming in
review the email archives for the previous discussions. If you have
something new to add to the subject that hasn't been covered before,
then send it along if you desire. For those that want the digest
version of the results of previous rounds on this:

  1. Those that want replies to their email redirected to the list only
     (cygwin at cygwin dot com) should set their "Reply-To" field.

  2. Those who reply to email with such a setting should not override it,
     under penalty of flame.

End of line.

Larry

 Sorry for butting in... but I have been there myself.

IMO there is one, not so obvious, maldefinition with at least
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
as it is today. In short:

There could be a "Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]" in the headers of
mail that is sent out by "ezmlm".

"Sender: [EMAIL PROTECTED]" and
"Mail-Followup-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]" are obviously not enough.

 As it is now; pressing "Reply" on mail from the list (at least in Outlook)
puts something else than [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the "To..." field, e.g. "Max
Bowsher <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>" (the <mail address> hidden under "Properties").
Outlook's "Reply to All", *appends* [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the To field.

That is probably why some of you get some personally adressed mail
that really belongs on the list.

 I have appended the headers of the message I replied to, for ref.

Hmm...? After proofreading; These looks odd:
--
Content-Type: text/plain;
        charset="iso-8859-1"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
--
i.e. they are *contradictory*; iso-8859-1 is full eight bits. I wonder where
the 7bit thing comes from. And:

 is obviously something extra (not necessary?).
