As far as I can see it, its the line endings...? So why not try an older gawk as proposed in the other thread. Its a fact that cygwins(?) gawk behaviour changed concerning CR/LF. Actually I didnt even get your problem. Your first post is at least confusing. What about a clear and simple test case?
