I posted "bash.exe crash" on 2025-03-25. There are similarities. In cygwin 3.6.x and 3.7.x, this bash command crashes silently: $ XXX=$(uname) Actually, $ XXX=$(any_executable_at_all_no_matter_how_simple) crashes.
