Please forgive my ignorance of cygwin's internals, but why does cygwin1.dll need to do anything on the network or enumerate the groups in LDAP/AD or whatever even when doing something as mundane as 'grep -V'? I'm just wondering if there's a better way to hold off on that until it's really needed.
