From: Chris Game > - now how do I get out of this 'None' group > that I'm apparently in, and into 'Users' or even 'Administrators'?
Step 1: Type "id" in bash and find what groups you are part of. id will only show the Windows groups that are in /etc/group, so that file has to be complete. Verify that all groups listed by "mkgroup -l" and "mkgroup -d" appear in /etc/group. Step 2: Edit /etc/passwd and change your gid to any of your groups. Step 3: Start a shell from outside of Cygwin. Type "id" to verify.
