$ git svn fetch

This results in a perl.exe.stackdump file in cwd.
Workaround: use cygwin to 1.7.18 (instead of 1.7.20)
This also worked for me.
With 1.7.18 the error message is not printed but an empty
perl.exe.stackdump file is created.
