I'll just comment that AFAIK no Java VM runs in the cygwin environment -- all are native Windows apps. It *might* be possible to get Jikes RVM to go under cygwin, but last I checked a piece of linux functionality is missing, namely the ability to look at and modify the register state saved in the process of handling a signal.
