I just updated the patch utility to the latest stable upstream version 2.6.1.
The Cygwin package contains a few patches in terms of binary vs. textmode handling. It seems to work fine in my testing, but if you encounter some strangeness, please report to the mailing list cygwin AT cygwin DOT com. This package is now also packed using cygport. To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your system.
