There is a lot of missing libraries when compiling an executable. I had to add the following in mkspecs/cygwin-g++/qmake.conf: QMAKE_LIBS_X11 = -lXext -lX11 -lz -lfreetype -lXrender -lfontconfig -lICE -lSM
And I had to pass x11 to CONFIG in the project file. Now it works!
