The majority of instabilities I observerved while compressing manpages with bzip2 -9, a minority during execessiv link operations. Some others I can't relate to something. Since I have compiled bzip2 from the Gentoo sources, I haven't seen any instablilities from this side any more, but a also was more conservative and didn't do parallel builds.
