my mistake, so i've done some more testing and found another bug to do with
fifo, i thought this patch had corrected.
i get this error from tee.
tee: read error: Communication error on send
at
exec 3>&1 4>&2
tee $OUTPUT_LOG < $OUTPUT_PIPE >&3 &
