If you have a specific issue, then please provide specific details so that it can be addressed. If you wish to propose design changes to setup, then please identify particular behaviors that exist now and what you think should be done instead. Have you read the source code for setup? Ultimately, providing patches for the changes you are interested in increases the likelihood that they are accepted. Cygwin is a volunteer effort. There have been discussions of alternate installer systems in the past and you can check the archives for those discussions. If you want something other than questions answered, bugs fixed or to propose design changes, this is clearly the wrong list. At the minimum, then this thread should move to the cygwin talk list. This list is read by many people and you are consuming many man-hours with this thread. If none of these options meet your needs, then please stop.
