Thanks. ./configure -C --disable-shared --host=i686-pc-mingw32 --build=i686-pc-cygwin CC="gcc-3 -mno-cygwin" CXX="g++-3 -mno-cygwin" and the following 'make' seem to work fine. I sort of assumed it was that, but thought it was best to clarify first.
