Hello, I have cygwin installed in the default c:\cygwin location...
I cannot get cygwin to see an executable in my path -- unless I change dirs down to the application location or run it with the absolute path. This works: r...@mycomputer ~ $ /c/Apps/apache-ant-1.8.0RC1/bin/ant -version Apache Ant version 1.8.0RC1 compiled on January 5 2010 THIS DOES NOT: >From my home dir: type "ant" and it is not found. r...@mycomputer ~ $ date Wed Jan 20 20:20:44 PST 2010 r...@mycomputer ~ $ ant -bash: ant: command not found I am using cygwin 1.7.1-1 with the new /etc/fstab file. Here is my fstab file: cat /etc/fstab: # For a description of the file format, see the Users Guide # http://cygwin.com/1.7/cygwin-ug-net/using.html#mount-table C: /c ntfs binary 0 0 D: /d ntfs binary 0 0 # This is default anyway: # none /cygdrive cygdrive binary,posix=0,user 0 0 If I am in my home directory and simply type "ant" it is not found. r...@mycomputer ~ $ date Wed Jan 20 20:20:44 PST 2010 r...@mycomputer ~ $ ant -bash: ant: command not found my .bash_profile path looks like: PATH=$PATH:/c/Apps/apache-ant-1.8.ORC1/bin export PATH RUNNING MOUNT... $ mount C:/cygwin/bin on /usr/bin type ntfs (binary, auto) C:/cygwin/lib on /usr/lib type ntfs (binary, auto) C:/cygwin on / type ntfs (binary, auto) C: on /c type ntfs (binary) D: on /d type unknown (binary) However if I manually change directories until I get to the path and run the command from there (verifying the path and executable are in fact there and I haven't done a typo) I can execute the command.... r...@mycomputer ~ $ cd c: r...@mycomputer /c $ cd Apps/ r...@mycomputer /c/Apps $ cd apache-ant-1.8.0RC1/bin r...@mycomputer /c/Apps/apache-ant-1.8.0RC1/bin $ ./ant -version Apache Ant version 1.8.0RC1 compiled on January 5 2010 -- Problem reports: http://cygwin.com/problems.html FAQ: http://cygwin.com/faq/ Documentation: http://cygwin.com/docs.html Unsubscribe info: http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple
