This should be basically fixed in CVS now. The problem is that the Windows function GetBinaryType returns different results for 64-bit DLLs, dependent on the OS. On 64-bit OSes it returns with an error ERROR_BAD_EXE_FORMAT. That's how it's supposed to be for all DLLs per MSDN(*). However, on 32-bit OSes the function returns unexpectedly successful with the file type set to SCS_64BIT_BINARY.
