Hi, I'm a long time Cygwin User and I am very happy with this great piece of software. Thanks for your great work!
I am forced to upgrade to W2K. And now the trouble begins ... Problem: I cannot write to my home dir. Changing files is fine, but I cannot create new files. -------------- admin@CIABATTA ~ $ cd ~ admin@CIABATTA ~ $ pwd /home/admin admin@CIABATTA ~ $ ls -la total 0 drwxrwxrwx 2 admins Kein 0 Apr 8 15:11 . drwxrwxrwx 4 admin Kein 0 Apr 8 15:11 .. admin@CIABATTA ~ $ echo "some dumb string" > testfile bash: testfile: Permission denied --------------- I downloaded the latest cygwin and installed it. I did a setup for all users. I added the CYGWIN environment variable to tty ntsec under W2K preferences. Is this a problem with my /etc/passwd? Here is it: --- jeder:*:0:0:,S-1-1-0:: system:*:18:18:,S-1-5-18:: admins:*:544:544:,S-1-5-32-544:: admin::500:544:U-CIABATTA\Administrator,S-1-5-21-1935655697- 920026266-854245398-500:/home/admin:/bin/bash --- This may look a bit strange for most of you, but this the German version of W2K. Perhaps this is the cause for the problem, but I doubt it, because I'm surely not the only German user of Cygwin ... I hope, this isn't a stupid FAQ.
