Hi, the serious misunderstanding is that something being standard conformant doesn't mean it is much usable. Prime example is original MS Posix subsystem: Just enough fulfilling the requirements for selling to US government, but not usable for writing anything more complex than cat, or else whole cygwin wouldn't exist!
