I think this is a limitation of the console mode; on my NT4-SP6a box, I get a 80x50 console when typing Alt/Enter, be it under Cygwin or directly under cmd.exe ;-( Too bad, but I think it's even a "hardware" limitation (running th eVGA board in TEXT mode, instead of graphic).
