Hopefully these are now changed to be the helpful type of build rules that output only "CC foo" when commands work and show the complete command line and diagnostics when commands err?

Or do we have to now have to rerun with V=1 to see error diagnostics?

Some tests can be particularly obscure when hunting down the command responsible and output resulting from failures: others DTRT!
