That could be true for many of them. What I ran is the following

# cat pkgreq
#! /bin/sh
cd /var/db/pkg
pkg_info -R "$1*" | more

The list was built from runing "pkgreq libgpg-error".

The boinc-* ports, for example, all list it as a build and run 
requirement but none of them died.
