There is no plan that I'm aware. I just redid what I did in the previous version of this section, i.e., allowing some users to access to the scanner. By default rw perms are for 'operator' or 'wheel' group members, the section explains how to create a specific group called 'usb', allow rw perms for this group and then how to add people to that group.
