If you build releases / snapshots and do not want to build the ports tree every time, you can define NOPORTS. The docs still need some ports to be build though. They are listed in release/Makefile.inc.docports in MINIMALDOCPORTS and will be checked out and build so that the docs can be build. At the moment ports/print/ghostscript-gpl-nox11 fails because with the ijs addition to ports/print/ghostscript-gpl, automake is now needed.
