Among the many places this needs to be changed is in the system upgrade instructions in /usr/src/UPDATING. I've been typing 'mount -u /' for so many years that it will take some time to re-program my neurons, too. :-( Was this really needed and just how does it improve things? Sure doesn't make my life any easier, but it's not as bad as the mess Gnome 2.12 made of a few things on my systems, so maybe I should not complain. -- R.
