Are you sure this is not the HDMI audio from the graphics card?
Thanks to everone who pointed this out... Well, I thought I was sure, but decided to check again The graphics card is nouveau0 at pci1 dev 0 function 0: vendor 10de product 1287 (rev. 0xa1) nouveau0: NVIDIA GK208B (b06070b1) which matches audio0 hdaudio0 at pci1 dev 0 function 1: HD Audio Controller. hdafg0 at hdaudio0: NVIDIA product 0051 audio0 at hdafg0: playback, capture, full duplex, independent hdaudio1 at pci23 dev 0 function 1: HD Audio Controller hdafg1 at hdaudio1: ATI R6xx HDMI audio1 at hdafg1: playback Unfortunately, even after changing devices with audiocfg(1) I get no audio output from firefox (using cnn.com audio feed). (I'd rather not use all the music on the Windows ntfs drive since it seems to keep crashing my machine - see kern/59153 so if you have a sample .mp3 track feel free to send it!) # audiocfg default 1 setting default audio device to audio1 # audiocfg list 0: [ ] audio0 @ hdafg0: NVIDIA product 0051 playback: 16, 2ch, 48000Hz record: 16, 2ch, 48000Hz (P-) slinear_le 16/16, 2ch, { 48000 } (P-) slinear_le 16/16, 4ch, { 48000 } (P-) slinear_le 16/16, 6ch, { 48000 } (P-) slinear_le 16/16, 8ch, { 48000 } (PR) slinear_le 16/16, 2ch, 48000-48000Hz 1: [*] audio1 @ hdafg1: ATI R6xx HDMI playback: 16, 2ch, 48000Hz record: unavailable (P-) slinear_le 16/16, 2ch, { 32000, 44100, 48000 } ( ) ac3 16/16, 2ch, { 32000, 44100, 48000 } (PR) slinear_le 16/16, 2ch, 48000-48000Hz +---------------------+--------------------------+----------------------+ | Paul Goyette (.sig) | PGP Key fingerprint: | E-mail addresses: | | (Retired) | 1B11 1849 721C 56C8 F63A | p...@whooppee.com | | Software Developer | 6E2E 05FD 15CE 9F2D 5102 | pgoye...@netbsd.org | | & Network Engineer | | pgoyett...@gmail.com | +---------------------+--------------------------+----------------------+
