Manually deleting the above "*.so*" files allowed the build to progress as far as creating the set lists and running "checkflist" (which fails due to one more libpcap issue). So, the presence of the above "*.so*" files (and related symlinks) is confounding the link process--apparently choosing the ".so" over the ".a". -- |/"\ John D.
