Not sure which @netbsd.org list to post this to, other candidates being port-amd64, port-i386 or netbsd-users.
My system is Intel Sandy Bridge, 64-bit, capable of running amd64 and i386 software. Question is whether it is possible to UEFI-boot an i386 installation of a newer version of NetBSD, or would it be only amd64? ls -l /usr/mdec shows total 1798 -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 75640 Jul 23 2019 boot -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 216493 Jul 23 2019 bootia32.efi -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 204662 Jul 23 2019 bootx64.efi -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 2048 Jul 23 2019 bootxx_cd9660 -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 6656 Jul 23 2019 bootxx_ext2fs -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 512 Jul 23 2019 bootxx_fat12 -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 512 Jul 23 2019 bootxx_fat16 -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 6144 Jul 23 2019 bootxx_ffsv1 -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 6656 Jul 23 2019 bootxx_ffsv2 -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 6144 Jul 23 2019 bootxx_lfsv1 -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 6656 Jul 23 2019 bootxx_lfsv2 -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 6656 Jul 23 2019 bootxx_msdos -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 7168 Jul 23 2019 bootxx_ustarfs -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 57344 Jul 23 2019 dosboot.com -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 440 Jul 23 2019 gptmbr.bin -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 512 Jul 23 2019 mbr -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 512 Jul 23 2019 mbr_bootsel -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 512 Jul 23 2019 mbr_com0 -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 512 Jul 23 2019 mbr_com0_9600 -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 512 Jul 23 2019 mbr_ext -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 1080800 Jul 23 2019 prekern -r--r--r-- 1 root wheel 61664 Jul 23 2019 pxeboot_ia32.bin If I want to boot NetBSD-i386, could I use /usr/mdec/bootia32.efi, /usr/mdec/bootx64.efi, or would booting NetBSD=i386 be impossible. I trust I could still hope to boot NetBSD-amd64. Tom
