The hard part was all Jason's work - he picked out just where
things would be going wrong - after that it wasn't difficult.

That's reasonable, but it isn't required for this bug fix, nor
is correcting the error codes returned, so I think I'll leave
those for a bit (or you can just make this change in a few minutes...)
