OCSP and "OCSP stapling" support are not really the same thing, so this question comes out a little odd to me. libcurl supports OCSP stapling already.
As for support for "custom OCSP response" or even just OCSP support, we would of course document and make the information clearly available if or when the situation changes. AFAIK, nobody is working on this.
I would encourage you to either start working on this yourself or consider paying someone else to do it to make sure it becomes reality. I'm willing to help out, whichever of the ways you go.
