I'm not sure of a way to do this exactly as you describe. Maybe
another list member can help. Personally, I would just use a
percentage width on that input, which would be based on the fieldset
it's in.

Try playing with the fieldset wrapping the search_box. Some other
margin/padding settings were helping. Tweak to suit:

margin: 0 2% 0 0;
padding-top: 2px;

I suggest you refrain from using the above text in your footer on
