Hey!

Thanks for the description of the module/content layout. It does wonders
when you have someone that can help out a little like that. Now that I
understand what is going on, I changed a few modules around like you
recommended. If you want to take a look again, the address is
www.eternityrecords.org/private.

Changes made to the layout:
1. Moved main menu from left to user3.
2. Turned the main menu into a legacy horizontal layout with menu images as
the menu item image (hopefully, the images aren't too large).
3. Moved search from user 1 to user 4.
4. Moved subscribe to our mailing lists from user2 to top position on the
right.

Other possible layout changes:
1. Remove the default joomla logo from the top left corner of the screen.
- I know this is done in the logo style (url(...) function).

2. Expand the "logo section to fit the entire width of the layout (sort of
like a banner header).
3. Inside the full width banner/header, insert the business name, the
band/artists name and their tagline. The questions I have with this one is:
- Given the text "Eternity Records presents In Him" on one line and the
tagline just below it, how large should the text be in order to fit?
4. Make the color scheme a tiny bit more colorful and fill in some of the
gaps/blank spaces (the gap at the top/bottom) with some color. Something
soft and non-intrusive. grey? oranges? pinks? blues? gold of any sort?
5. Depending on how bad the red text in the logo spot clashes with the blue
color scheme, change the color scheme to something else. My choices provided
with the template are blue, red, green, black (I think) and orange [or I
create my own]. What one would you recommend?

Questions about other module positions:
1. What exactly would be best for user1/user2? Would a poll be good for
either one if/when they are available?

Andy,

To keep from getting utterly confused, I deleted all the original text from
the thread. I made up a test on my test site which will probably be up as
is for a couple days, www.jtest.us. I change things frequently so I'll only
guarantee to leave it for a couple days. At the end of this message I have
written up a text description of the rhuk_milkyway template. Some notes on
your template:

* The main menu is at the top of the left column; it would suit up
well in user3.

* Search looks to be in user1; I would move it to user4.

* Newsletter signup - Better suited to left or right column.

* The blog, Journal, is currently sitting in the right column.

* InHimCast is currently sitting below the blog in the right column.

This template is fairly simple which is nice but with limited positions. It
would not be difficult to add a banner module position and place it just
above the footer, same width. You could use it for a banner or anything
else to suit your needs.

========================
Template - rhuk_milkyway
========================

General - The theme is fixed width probably between 960 - 1000 pixels wide
and has a small margin on top and bottom perhaps 30 pixels in size where you
will only see background, no content.

Banner/header - The banner is full width about 100 pixels tall.

Gap - There is a small gap, open space sort of, just below the banner and
above all columns. It is about 55 pixels in height.

Left column - The left column begins below the banner/gap, probably 200
pixels wide.

Right column - By default the right column does the same, starting just
below the banner/gap.

Primary content - If no optional modules are installed the primary content
area sits directly below the banner/gap and is flanked by the right/left
columns.

Footer - The footer falls just below the primary content, the same width. It
is also flanked by the right/left column.

Bottom - There is a section that starts just below the right/left columns
and footer that goes full width. I will call this 'bottom' for lack of a
real name. The only element is a Powered by Joomla valid XHTML and CSS text
section right-justified.

The Modules:

Top - If you enable "top" module it will display in the header area just to
the right of the logo.

Breadcrumb - If you enable the breadcrumb in breadcrumb module it will take
space in the banner/gap, left-justified.

User4 - This is a small module position which like the breadcrumb sits in
the banner/gap, right-justified. Here you would enable something really
small like 'Search'.

User1 - If enabled it will locate immediately to the right of the left
column and just below the banner. It will push the primary content and
right column down to sit underneath it.

User2 - If enabled it will locate immediately to the right of user1 if it's
enabled and split the space with user1.

User3 - If enabled user3 is suitable for a horizontal main menu and sits at
the bottom edge of the header, occupying almost full width, but this will
probably depend on the content, if it is a menu items. It is center
justified.

Syndicate - If you enable module syndication in syndication location it will
display at the very bottom of the page, left-justified, in the 'bottom'
section. You would see it on the left and 'Powered by' on the right.
