Hi all - I tried to send this a few days ago, but I think I inadvertently sent it as rich text. D'oh. Anyway...
So, I've finally decided to take the plunge and leave my beloved table-based layouts behind in favor of CSS based layouts. I'm also trying to learn Dreamweaver at the same time, so the whole process is doubly confusing. Anyway - I've put together a test layout that is the basis for a nonprofit site. It looks fine in IE8 and the newest versions of Firefox and Safari - but when I look at it on my work computer (we're stuck with IE6 firm-wide), the thing 'splodes. The right (main) column drops down below the left column. I'm not sure what it does in IE7. I'm sure that this is a common problem, because I see it often while surfing with IE6 on my lunch hour - but none of the Google searches I've tried re: IE6 CSS conflicts seem to return anything useful. I must have my search terminology wrong, because it does seem like a common issue. I did see the info about IE5 in the Wiki, which I will try if I get time today - but I'm not sure if it's applicable. We'll see. Here is the site: http://trixmeauj.webuda.com/ The CSS file is here: http://trixmeauj.webuda.com/styles.css ...and anything else that you see that I've done wrong or that could be done less stupidly, please feel free to critique. I am determined to make CSS layouts make as much sense to my brain as table-based layouts do. (I suspect that ditching Dreamweaver might help in that regard, but I really need to learn how to use it....) Thanks in advance for any info - Alison _________________________________________________________________ The New Busy is not the too busy.
