That's a tough one. I am afraid I can offer little more than compassion. 
But, FWIW, I had relative luck [1] with a single item drop down in IE 
using this method [2], but have never tried setting it in two different 
locations on the same page. And also luck with TJK's [3], "keyboard 
friendly" (and considerably more complicated), drop down in IE. I have 
yet to have any success with the "suckerfish," and gave up trying long ago.
