I figured out that '#entrybuttonc, #entrybuttonl, #entrybuttonr {font-size: x-large;}' needed to be changed to '#entrybuttonc p, #entrybuttonl p, #entrybuttonr p {font-size: x-large;}', so that the divs were sized according to the default font instead of x-large. Now it works as expected in all the same browsers I originally tested with, with the added bonus that IE at smaller no longer pushes #entrybuttonc down below the two that belong on each side of it.
