I do:

The paragraph following the h1 is indented from the left by about 20px, 
and there is a gap of about 60px below each h2.

Why must it?  Again, what is the problem you are seeing and trying to 
solve? I see no problems with IE related to the styles on #content, nor 
do your suggested changes make any difference that I can see.

It doesn't. :-) The space between the nav column and the right side of 
the screen is doubled.
