Validate the markup and the css. No problem with warnings on the css
file, but there are a couple of errors. And there are errors to fix on
the markup, too.
When you are up for it, it is always an advantage to provide text for
the images for those using screen-readers(text bowsers).

I have no clue regarding the Safari problem, unless the images are not
optimized for loading?
Perhaps someone else on the list can help with any other issues...
