I'd recommend the Definitive Guide to CSS, by Eric Meyer (you can't  
go wrong with Eric Meyer). I haven't read all the way through it, but  
it's aimed towards those learning CSS:

However, I have read his excellent New Riders books, for when you've  
got the basics down. He walks you through dozens of projects, with  
practical examples, advice, and tips throughout:
